For many people battling cancer, writing down names and information about others they know who fought cancer can provide inspiration to continue going on. It’s a simple, yet effective, process that may help you along your journey.
Start by taking your favorite pen and a pile of index cards. If you enjoy crafting, use markers or
watercolor pencils. Make space on your dining room table. Put on your favorite music. Open a window for fresh air.
Write the name or nickname of one of your cancer role models on each of the index cards. Jot down at least one word that captures the most important lesson you learned from each person. Use as many words as you want.
When you’re done, draw a symbol on each index card to represent your role model. It can be anything you desire. Perhaps a sun with rays, a rainbow or flower come to mind.
When you’re done, hold your set of cards close to your chest. Shuffle your cards when cancer makes you feel sad. Pull a card. Read the name out loud. Picture your role model. Smile. Repeat as needed.
